Department of Industrial Engineering Bandung Institute of Technology held an international competition in industrial engineering (IECOM) 5th, held from January 14 to 20. In addition to 10 universities from Indonesia, this competition also followed by five universities from the Philippines and Thailand.

Interestingly, subjects who competed in this competition is a service company, PT XL Axiata and PT Angkasa Pura II. Because, until now the image of industrial engineering majors closely with the manufacturing sector.

"This competition is proof that the industrial engineering department is also capable and competent to handle the service sector. The difference is, we start from the design and planning," said Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering ITB, Ari Samadhi, Saturday (01/14/2012).

One of the subjects of the competition was to design a mechanism for handling passenger Terminal I Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Chairman of the Committee for the competition, Mukhamad Ikhsan, said that Terminal I differ with the other terminals as there are many cheap flights to accumulate more than others. Participants are expected to produce solutions that better management of the airport.
